Recently iv been looking into constructing a Garden room in my own garden. I think garden rooms are great as they allow extra space without relatively low cost to build compared to extensions. At home we are looking for an extra room for gym space and rather than extend we going to build a room at the top of the garden approximately 4 x 2.2 metres in size. No planning permission is required a a garden room or shed as long as its a “temporary” structure (no foundations) and has an overall height of less than 2.5 metres form ground level. Here is the sketch model I have come up with to suite our garden:

I have gone for a contemporary finish with red western cedar cladding. Doors are slate grey colour upvc and glazed screen screen to match the existing house as I think this looks great against the cedar cladding. I plan to make this a relatively warm room with plenty of insulation as it will be used all year round. I’m aiming for a U-Value or around 0.20 for walls, roof and floor which should be pretty well insulated.

Although planning permission isn’t required for the majority, we can produce a great bespoke design, suited to your garden and advise on the best construction. Suitable for guest bedrooms, home offices, gyms, outside bars, etc. canopy-garden-room-5m-wide-x-3m-deep                                                                                                                                                    (photo taken from google images)
